It seems like a good idea, before selling our house and leaving our jobs to go travelling round the world as a family, to make sure we have some idea of what we wish to gain from this venture.
So, from my perspective to begin with, here are my top 3 wishes:
- Spending time together – we could achieve this by doing nothing and just staying at home, but that would seem a bit lazy and the kids would probably be bored after a few weeks / minutes
- Exploring different places – a one or two-week family holiday tends to involve seeking as must rest and relaxation as possible, in an attempt to recharge the batteries, so I am really looking forward to travelling more slowly and getting to know places that we would not normally visit
- Expanding our horizons – it is also my wish to make the most of my life as possible, and for the kids to do likewise, and I hope that taking a year away from our usual routines will help expand our view on what is possible with the rest of our lives
